WELGELEGEN MANOR
Welgelegen Manor in Balfour Mpumalanga

Welgelegen Manor:

South Africa / Mpumalanga / Balfour

5 Star Rating5 Star Rating5 Star Rating5 Star Rating5 Star Rating

Set in tranquil farmlands of Balfour, Mpumalanga, an hour south of Johannesburg lies the magnificent Welgelegen Manor, designed by South Africa's iconic architect, Sir Herbert Baker in 1913. The manor has been exquisitely restored to its former glory and offers the ideal setting for a getaway weekend, a small conference or garden wedding. A sence of tranquillity greets you on arrival, echoing through the reception rooms with their original fire places for the gold winter nights to the more than spacious luxury guest suites where every comfort is catered for.

Beautifully decorated to enhance the style and elegance of the past, Welgelegen invites complete relaxation. If you're not soaking up the sun next to the sparkling pool or having a drink in our cosy bar, have a game of billiards or have fun with the board games in our games room. For those who enjoy their own company with a good book, the "Ladies Lounge" or our secluded court yard is just what you need.

Welgelegen is renowned for its wine cellar with a host of vintage wines. Select yours to enjoy with the fine dining experience offered.

Our room rate includes 3 meals a day, late afternoon shack, all house wines and cocktails, laundry service and 18-hour a day room service.

No one is completely sure of the origins of the South African Ndebele tribe, but it is generally accepted that about 400 ago they migrated under Chief Muzi from present day KwaZulu-Natal and settled in the hills north-east of what is now Pretoria.
